#45Let's recycle that extra wood.

#46We might find a few things we need too, said Dad.

#47They got in the truck and drove down the hill to the road.

#48When they reached the center, Joy hopped out of the truck.

#49She liked looking up at the mountains of crushed cardboard and smashed soda cans.

#50She saw Mr. Ramirez, Carlos' father.

#51He was in charge of sorting all the metal—brass, tin, iron, steel, and copper.

#52Hello, Mr. Ramirez, called Joy.

#53Dad and I are building a tree house!

#54Do you have anything we can use?

#55Well, let's see, said Mr. Ramirez.

#56Do you need a bucket?

#57We might, replied Joy.

#58Thanks!

#59Dad was looking in a cardboard box.

#60Here are some old hooks, he said.

#61The kids can hang stuff on those, said Mr. Ramirez.

#62Joy dropped the hooks into her bucket.

#64asked Joy.

#65A wheel?

#66It's a special kind of wheel, said Mr. Ramirez.

#67It's called a pulley.

#68You use it with a rope to help lift something.

#69Joy turned to her dad.

#71Take it, he said.

#75Then Dad found some sheets of tin leaning against a wall.
