#18There they found a circle of green lawn with a sundial in the center.

#19All around the edge of the circle was a marble seat.

#20The thread ran across the lawn.

#21It ended in the hand of someone sleeping on the seat!

#22It's an enchanted princess! said Gerald.

#23Her clothes are so old-fashioned, said Kathleen.

#24She must have fallen asleep a hundred years ago.

#25She isn't really a princess, said Jimmy.

#26Gerald and Kathleen laughed.

#27They didn't care what Jimmy said.

#28Every part of the adventure-the cave, the maze, the threadfelt magical to them.

#29Lift up the veil, Gerald, whispered Kathleen.

#30If she's beautiful, we'll know she's a princess.

#31Lift it yourself, he said.

#32Kathleen gently lifted the veil.

#33Isn't she lovely?

#34Not too bad, Gerald muttered.

#50With that, Jimmy planted a loud kiss on the princess' cheek.

#51The three children stood waiting to see what would happen next.

#52The princess opened her large, dark eyes.

#53She stretched her arms and yawned.

#54Then she said, So the hundred years are over?

#56I am, said Jimmy.

#57My prince.

#58The princess held out her hand and Jimmy shook it hard.

#59But you aren't really a princess, are you? he asked.

#61Look at my crown.

#62She pulled aside her veil to reveal a crown of diamonds.

#63How did you ever get past the dragons?

#64Gerald ignored her question.

#65Then this really is an enchanted castle?

#66Of course it is.

#67Don't be stupid.

#68The princess stood up and her dress fell in waves around her feet.

#69I told you her dress would be too long, said Jimmy.

#70It must have grown over the years, said the princess.

#71Let's go back to the castle, and I'll show you all my lovely jewels.

#72Would you like that?

#73Yes, said Gerald.

#74But . . .

#75But what?

#76The princess sounded impatient.

#77But we're awfully hungry.

#78We never got to eat our lunch.
