#35Hello, Vinnie and Mandy said, putting their hands together and bowing.

#37The boys will wash first, said his father.

#38Vinnie followed Rishi outside to a large jug of water.

#39With a cup, Rishi scooped up some water.

#47We have a short rainy season, explained Rishi.

#48So we collect rainwater in a well outside the village.

#49Rishi filled the cup again.

#50He dipped his fingers in the cup and rubbed water on his arms.

#51Water is very valuable, Rishi continued.

#52We must not waste one drop.

#53Embarrassed, Vinnie looked at the puddle at his feet.

#54Inside the house, Mandy was looking at a row of statues on a low table.

#56Mandy asked.

#57She pointed to a statue of a four-headed person with four arms.

#58Brahma, explained Rima.

#59He is the creator of the universe.

#60Brahma is one of our three main gods.

#62asked Mandy.

#63There was a dark blue statue with four arms.

#64Each of its arms held an object.

#65That is Vishnu, the preserver of the universe, said Rima.

#66And this is Shiva.

#67The statue of Shiva sat with its legs crossed and eyes closed.

#68The destroyer of the universe.

#69Mandy looked at the smaller statues on the table.

#72Rima nodded.
