#38Johnson said eagerly.

#39Gerald explained how he'd watched the men go down to the river.

#40They had tied their bags of silver under a dock.

#41Tonight, after dark, they planned to retrieve the silver and escape by boat.

#42You can catch them then, said Gerald.

#43But which dock is their hiding spot? asked Johnson.

#44Follow me, said Gerald.

#45When I take out my handkerchief and blow my nose, that'll be the place.

#46Gerald went back to the other children.

#47Come on!

#48Let's play follow-the-leader.

#49The children followed him, running and jumping and imitating his every step.

#50Johnson followed at a distance.

#51On one dock Gerald suddenly stopped and blew his nose.

#52Then he led the children back to the school.

#53We've brought our friend Mabel home for lunch, said Kathleen when Eliza opened the door.

#55She's gone to visit the castle.

#56The grounds are open to the public today.

#57Now hurry up with your lunch.

#58This is my afternoon off.

#59My fiancé doesn't like waiting for me.

#60The children ate quickly and Eliza left.
