#29They would get much hotter than light-colored animals.

#32Vultures are dark- colored, but they wet their legs with their urine.

#33The urine cools the blood in their legs.

#34The cooler blood goes back through their bodies.

#35Sparrow: I see.

#36They are really amazing!

#37Then how do desert animals find water?

#38You do need water, don't you?

#39Mouse: Of course!

#40We desert creatures get water from plants.

#41The juicy cactus is a favorite!

#43Sparrow: But won't I get stuck by the thorns?

#44Mouse: Not really.

#47By the way, how do you stay cool in this desert?

#48Mouse: I live in an underground den like this.
