#38We wish to speak with you, said the Cherokee man, getting off his horse.

#39Frank and another cowboy went to speak with him.

#40Vinnie noticed a young boy in the hunting party.

#41Vinnie got off his horse and smiled at the boy.

#42Hello, Vinnie said.

#43Hello, the boy answered without smiling.

#44Vinnie introduced himself.

#45The Cherokee boy, still on his horse, moved closer to Vinnie.

#46Tell your father to give us some of his cattle, he said in a threatening voice.

#49He's not my father, Vinnie said.

#50And why should he give you anything?

#51Still on his horse, the boy circled Vinnie slowly.

#52Vinnie felt frightened.
