#30In the picture, the old man was standing in front of a large elm tree by a building.

#31Something was sticking out of its branches on a long pole.

#36said Vinnie, closing his eyes.

#37The children fell down the dark tunnel.

#38Ow! cried Vinnie.

#39Oh! yelled Mandy.

#40Vinnie landed on a damp surface.

#41Mandy landed nearby.

#42The air smelled of the ocean.

#43They were on a long, wide pier.

#44Are you okay?

#45Vinnie asked, opening his eyes.

#46Yes, Mandy answered.

#47She sat up and looked around, rubbing her arm.

#48The pier was in the harbor of a city.

#49Brick and wooden buildings lined narrow streets.

#50She could see a white church tower in the distance.

#51It looks like we're in a seaport, she said.

#52I wonder where?

#53Several tall-masted ships were tied to the pier with heavy rope.

#54One ship was just coming in to dock.

#55I can see the ship's name, Mandy said.

#56The Liberty.

#57Vinnie pointed.

#58It looks like the men over there are waiting for the ship.

#59Suddenly, the children heard marching feet.

#60They turned around.

#61Soldiers wearing red coats and black hats were heading toward the ship in a line.

#62They held long, thin rifel s.

#63The Redcoats!

#64shouted a man on the dock.

#65Everyone turned to watch the soldiers approach.

#66Who are they?

#67asked Vinnie nervously.

#68They look angry.

#69The Redcoats stopped and held their rifel s in front of them.

#70The leader stepped forward and spoke to one of the men on the dock.

#71Vinnie!

#72I think I know where we are!

#73Mandy almost shouted.

#74The Redcoats!

#75Aren't they the British Army?

#76Vinnie stared at the soldiers.

#77Their uniforms do look familiar .

#78He paused.

#79We're still in America!
