#37He turned to the cave entrance.

#38Demons! he shouted.

#39Leave this mountain now, or we'll knock it down and crush all three of you!

#40For a moment everything was quiet.

#41Then the lion stepped out of the cave.

#42He towered over the monkey and the pig.

#43Why are you out here yelling? asked the lion calmly.

#44You, the elephant, and the raptor must leave this mountain at once, said Wukong.

#45Why must we leave? asked the lion.

#46We're not bothering you.

#47Villain! shouted the monkey.

#48I know you're planning to capture and eat the Tang Monk!

#49We haven't touched the Tang Monk, said the lion.

#50But you, Sun Wukong-you scared away our entire army.

#51You're the villain here.

#52I'm not a villain! shouted Wukong.

#53He raised his iron bar and charged toward the lion.

#54The lion opened his mouth wide, revealing huge, sharp fangs.

#55Wukong swung his iron bar.

#56The lion pounced andgulp!

#57Bajie's face went white with horror.

#58Yikes! he cried.

#59That lion just swallowed Wukong!

#60The pig ran as fast as he could.

#61He didn't stop running until he reached Wujing and the Tang Monk.

#62What happened? asked Wujing.

#64The journey . . . is . . . over, said the pig between breaths.

#66What! cried the Tang Monk.

#67Bajie shook his head.

#68We should all just go home. * * * Meanwhile the lion went back into the cave.

#69His chest was puffed out, and he wore a big smile.

#70What happened out there? asked the elephant.

#72Not exactly, said the lion.

#73Well, where is he? asked the raptor.

#74The lion patted his belly.

#76You ate him? asked the elephant.

#77I did, said the lion.

#78The raptor shook his head.

#79That was a bad idea.

#80Why? asked the lion.

#81Sun Wukong is immortal, said the raptor.

#82He's probably still alive inside you.

#83Yes, I am still alive!

#84Wukong suddenly shouted.
