#17I'm sure it was the demon.

#18The demon probably caused this strange cold weather too.

#19He made a fist.

#20I can't believe we fell for his trick!

#21We must save the Tang Monk!

#22Wukong stopped pacing and looked at his companions.

#23My powers aren't very strong underwater.

#24You two must go down there and get the demon to come back up.

#25I'll surprise him.

#26Wujing and Bajie nodded and dived into the river.

#27They soon spotted a palace.

#28Wujing read the sign over the door: Residence of the River Turtle.

#29I wonder if the demon is in here.

#30Bajie knocked on the door.

#31Open up! he shouted.

#32The door opened, and the demon stepped out.

#33He was holding a large hammer.

#34What do you want? he asked.

#35Did you kidnap our master? asked Wujing.

#36Yes, said the demon.

#37And I plan to eat him.

#38Now go away!

#39The demon tried to close the door, but Wujing stopped the door with his spear.

#40The demon moved toward him.

#41Bajie's rake came crashing down.

#42The demon blocked the rake with his hammer.

#43Fish and other creatures fled as the three spirits fought.

#44After a few minutes, Bajie pretended to be scared.

#45He swam upward, and Wujing soon followed.

#46Cowards! called the demon, swimming after them toward the surface.

#47The demon jumped out of the water and onto the ice.

#48Wukong was waiting for him.

#49The monkey swung his iron bar.

#50The demon ducked.

#51The bar hit the ice.

#52The demon swung his hammer.

#53More cracks formed in the ice.

#54Weapons clashed as the spirits fought on the breaking ice.

#55The demon hit Bajie's legs.

#56Whoa! cried the pig.

#57He slid across the ice and slammed into Wujing.

#58The purple spirit slipped and fell.

#59The demon laughed and dived back under the ice.

#60Bajie and Wujing stood back up.

#61The demon escaped, said the pig.

#62We must stop him before he eats the Tang Monk, said Wukong.

#63Go back down there and try to lead him up here again.

#64Wujing and Bajie dived into the river.

#65When they reached the palace, they found a huge pile of rocks blocking the door.

#66Bajie struck the rocks with his rake.

#67The rake bounced off the rock pile.

#68The rocks didn't move at all.

#69Wujing stabbed at the rocks with his spear.

#70Again, the rocks didn't move.

#71What kind of rocks are these? cried the pig.

#72Maybe they're held in place with magic, said Wujing.

#73They returned to the surface of the river and told Wukong about the rocks.

#74The monkey sighed.

#75We need Guanyin's help.
