#23So we went upstairs to my apartment to get some cardboard.

#25Then we went to Molly's apartment.

#26Molly and Caswell's babysitter, Lucy, had just made some chocolate chip cookies.

#27The apartment smelled almost as good as Mom's Bakery!

#28So we all sat down and had warm cookies and lemonade.

#29After that we got to work.

#30We cut the cardboard into small squares.

#31Then we printed big numbers on each square with a magic marker.

#32We printed numbers all the way up to one hundred.

#33Everyone helped, even Caswell.

#34Now during recess kids could pick a number to take a turn on the slide.

#35We will need a number caller, I said.

#36What's a number caller? asked Jenny.

#37It's the person who calls out the next number, I explained.

#38Remember the man at Mom's Bakery?

#39Molly grinned and imitated him.

#40Number seven is next!

#41Exactly, I said.

#42Let's take turns calling out the numbers, said Jenny.

#43I wanted this to be a really, really good invention.

#44So I came up with one more idea.

#45I'll ask my mom if she'll take us to Dollar Delight, I said.

#46They sell lots of cheap little toys.

#47Kids can pick a number from one bag and a toy from another.

#48Then they can have fun while they're waiting.

#49But won't we run out of toys? asked Jenny.

#50No, I said.

#51When the kids turn in their tickets, they'll turn in their toys too.

#52Wow, said Molly.

#53This is a really great invention, Iggy.

#54I hoped Molly was right.

#55My Fabulous Glasses-Finder had sounded like a good idea too-at first.

#56But my Pick-a-Number invention was different.

#57It would solve a big problem at school.

#58Maybe it would even be in Mr.

#59Bright's new book!

#60After dinner my mom took us to Dollar Delight.

#61We bought lots of little toys for only about ten dollars.

#62We also bought two colorful shopping bags.

#63We planned to fill one shopping bag with tickets and the other with toys.

#64I could hardly wait until recess the next day!
