#38After I put these groceries away, I'm going to sit down with a good book.

#39Just then someone knocked on our apartment door.

#40It was my friend Molly, who lives across the hall.

#41Her little brother, Caswell, was with her.

#42Hi, Iggy, she said.

#43How's your new room?

#44I'm almost all moved in, I said.

#46I showed them my new room.

#47I'm going to think up great inventions here.

#48My next invention will be healthy candy.

#60Then I got busy.

#61First I took three bags of frozen vegetables out of the freezer.

#62There were lima beans, peas, and broccoli.

#63Next I dumped the vegetables on a platter in my room.

#64The broccoli was all stuck together.

#65We had to use a hammer to break it apart.

#66This is fun! said Caswell, pounding the frozen broccoli.

#67But how are we going to make candy? asked Molly.

#68You'll see, I told her.

#69I went into the kitchen and got a stool.

#70Then I climbed up and got a bottle from the cupboard.

#71Its label said Chocolate Syrup.

#72Now, I said, as I came back into my room.

#73We'll pour the syrup over the frozen vegetables.

#74Then the syrup will freeze.

#75The candy will be just like a chocolate-coated ice-cream cone!

#76But the candy will still taste like vegetables, Molly pointed out.

#77Who cares? said Caswell.

#78Let's start pouring!

#79We all took turns pouring the syrup.

#80Caswell tried to be careful, but he got syrup all over his face.

#81In fact, he got syrup all over everything.

#82That was when Mom walked into my room.

#83Iggy! she cried.
