#20Mr. Dunn chuckled.

#21Start by choosing a T-shirt from the bucket.

#22Mr. Dunn showed the campers how to wring the water out of the shirts.

#23Now we're ready to make our designs, he said.

#24Can anyone guess how I made mine?

#25Izzie studied his shirt.

#26She also saw rubber bands on the table.

#27You put rubber bands around the T-shirt before you dyed it!

#28Izzie said.

#29The dye couldn't get under the rubber bands.

#30That's why there are those white stripes!

#31Mr. Dunn smiled.

#32Good thinking, Izzie.

#33First twist your shirt, the teacher said.

#34Then make sections with rubber bands.

#35Each rubber band will become a white stripe.

#36To make a pattern of circles, twist the middle section of the shirt.

#37Add rubber bands to make rings around your circle.

#38I want stripes, just like yours, Mr. Dunn, Izzie said.

#39I'm making circles, said Nina.

#40The boys chose circles too.

#41Now it's time to dye.

#42Carefully squeeze dye onto each section.

#43Mr. Dunn demonstrated.

#44You can use just two colors, or as many as you want, Mr. Dunn said.

#45Izzie looked at Mr. Dunn's shirt.

#46It had green stripes at the top and blue ones at the bottom.

#47Izzie used those colors too.

#48Now put the shirts in plastic bags.

#49The dye needs to soak in for the rest of the day, said Mr. Dunn.

#50At home you'll have to hang up the shirts to let them dry.

#51The kids set their bagged shirts aside.

#52But Izzie wasn't good at waiting.

#53She wanted to see her shirt now.

#54Can we peek at the shirts, to check our designs?

#55she asked.

#56No.

#57Mr. Dunn shook his head.

#58You have to wait, Izzie.

#59Waiting is so hard, Izzie thought.

#60What if she had made a mistake?

#61What if her shirt didn't come out like Mr. Dunn's?

#62Finally the teacher announced, It's time!

#63The kids rushed back to their shirts.

#64Izzie thought the other campers' shirts looked great.

#65Then she took hers out of the bag.

#66She gasped.

#67There were only two green stripes and five blue ones.

#68Mr. Dunn, it doesn't look like your shirt at all!

#69she cried.

#70It's much better than my shirt, Mr. Dunn said.

#71The uneven pattern is beautiful!

#72You'll see how great it looks when we all wear our shirts on Friday.

#73Izzie smiled.

#74Now she couldn't wait until Friday!
