#30First find a pinecone by those pine trees over there.

#32row of trees on the edge of the playground.

#33Minutes later the kids came running back with their pinecones.

#34Mine's the biggest!

#35Bobby shouted.

#36Next choose a pipe cleaner.

#37Tie one end around the stem of your pinecone, Miss Shelly said.

#38Pass me that green pipe cleaner

#39please, Izzie said.

#40Blue please, Jason said.

#41I'm going to use a purple one, Nina said.

#42Of course you are, said Bobby.

#43What does that mean?

#44Nina asked.

#45Nothing, Miss Purple.

#46Bobby grinned.

#47Now we roll the pinecones in peanut

#48butter, Miss Shelly said.

#49Whoa!

#50It's so sticky!

#51Izzie cried.

#52Exactly!

#53We need the pinecones to be sticky so seeds will stick to them.

#54Next we roll them in birdseed, Miss Shelly said.

#55It looks pretty!

#56Izzie said, holding up her pinecone.

#57It was covered with different-colored seeds.

#58So does mine!

#59Nina said.

#60I hope that red bird eats from it, Izzie said.

#61Well, let's hang up your bird feeders and find out, Miss Shelly said.

#62Which tree should we hang them on?

#63That one.

#64Izzie pointed to the tree where she had seen the red bird earlier.

#65Miss Shelly carried a ladder over to the tree and climbed up.

#66Pass me your bird feeders please, she said.

#67Miss Shelly tied all the bird feeders onto separate branches.

#68Izzie thought they looked like ornaments on a Christmas tree.

#69Now we sit, wait, and watch, Miss

#71They sat back down at the picnic table.

#72Miss Shelly poured everyone hot cocoa.

#73They all watched the tree.

#75Izzie whispered happily.

#76Izzie pointed to a red bird in the tree.

#78Then it flew down to peck at Izzie's pinecone.
