#17Magic? breathed Aladdin.

#18Magrib stretched out his arm and pointed with his finger.

#19Where the earth had split, Aladdin saw a thick piece of marble with a big brass ring on top.

#20What is this?

#21Aladdin asked.

#22It is a special door, answered the magician.

#23Listen closely.

#24Do exactly as I say and you will be mightier and richer than any king.

#25Tell me what to do! cried Aladdin.

#26I will obey every word!

#27Under this marble door is a treasure, said Magrib.

#28It is for you alone.

#29No one but you may claim it.

#30How do I get to the treasure? asked Aladdin.

#31Grab the brass ring and lift the stone, said the magician.

#32What? gasped Aladdin.

#33He looked down at the marble.

#34Oh, Uncle, he said.

#35It is huge it must be so heavy.

#36I am not strong enough to lift it by myself.

#37You must help me!

#38I cannot help you, said Magrib.

#39No one but you has the power to lift it.

#40No one but you may touch it!

#41But, Uncle! cried Aladdin.

#42Reach out your hand, grab the ring, and pull, ordered Magrib.

#43Then say your name and command the stone to rise.

#44It will obey you.

#45I promise it will not be heavy.

#46But how can that be?

#47Open the door, said Magrib.

#48Unsure, the boy looked down at the marble.

#49I cannot do it, he said to himself.

#50Open the door! shouted Magrib.

#51Aladdin repeated the command to himself softly.

#52My name is Aladdin, he said.

#53I command you to rise.

#54Then he repeated it louder.

#55My name is Aladdin.

#56I command you to rise.

#57Do it, boy, hissed Magrib.

#58Aladdin rubbed his hands together and took a deep breath.

#59He reached out his hand, grabbed the brass ring, and pulled.

#60My name is Aladdin! he shouted.

#61I command you to rise!

#62As the boy pulled, the stone rose.

#63Aladdin was amazed.

#64Within moments, he had removed the door and tossed it aside!

#65He now saw a deep, dark hole where the marble had been.

#66Magrib leaned over and looked into the opening.

#67They could both see a steep stone stairway disappearing down into the shadows.

#68Aladdin looked up at Magrib.

#69Where is the treasure? he asked.

#70It is down there, said the magician.

#71Let's go! shouted Aladdin.

#72Let's go and get it right now!

#73No one can enter the enchanted treasury but you, said Magrib.

#74You must go alone.
